LATEST NEWS

Magnificat is a ministry to Catholic women. Its purpose is to help Catholic women open more and more to the Holy Spirit through a deeper commitment of their lives to Jesus as Lord and to impart the Holy Spirit to one another by their love, service, and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. It thus provides opportunities which will foster a desire to grow in holiness. Magnificat ministers to women in and out of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal whose faith in the person of Jesus Christ has allowed them to believe in the activity of God's Spirit in their lives. It also has great appeal to those women who may be struggling with faith or who have lost touch with the Church. It can be a valuable evangelistic tool.

Welcome to the Morning Star Chapter

Morning Star Chapter

Lincoln, Nebraska

“Morning Star” is a special title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ. After the fall of our first parents, Adam and Eve, God promised a Redeemer in the Book of Genesis, Chapter 3 verse 15. The “woman” in that verse is referring to the human person, the Blessed Virgin Mary (not Eve, our first mother, physically). Mary (our second mother, spiritually) would be THE “Morning Star” that pierces the doom and darkness that befell mankind because of our first parents’ Original Sin. God would create Mary immaculate (being without Original Sin, which is the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception). This would be so that God the Father’s only Son, Jesus, our Lord and Savior, would be conceived in Mary’s womb without any Original Sin at the Annunciation through the power of the Holy Spirit. Thereby, Jesus would pass through a “sinless instrument” during Mary’s nine months of pregnancy, referring to the fact that sin would have no ultimate power over Him. Mary is our “Morning Star” to act as THE HUMAN INSTRUMENT who gave us our Divine Savior, Jesus, who brings us deliverance from sin and death through His Cross and Resurrection so we can all eventually have a share in eternal life by faith.

 Our Chapter Beginnings

"Mary Harper saw a show on EWTN about Magnificat in 1994.  She made an inquiry and received the information about starting a Chapter in Lincoln.  20 women prayed on a regular basis to determine if it was God’s will to start a chapter.  After discerning it was, five women were chosen to be on the first Service Team.  They were:  Joan Campbell, Betsy Dalton, Mary Harper, Marian Kozisek and Carolyn May."
